The Consumer Processing Specialist responsibilities include preparing or reviewing a pipeline of loans files, documents, and/or disclosures for accuracy and compliance with regulatory guidelines. Specialists are expected to have in-depth understanding of consumer loan products, Loan Policy, secondary market investor guidelines and/or various regulatory requirements.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Process a moderate pipeline of loans including various lending products

  • Obtain or review third party documentation

  • Perform data entry of document preparation and internal forms

  • Communicate with title companies or other outside vendors, and internal departments

  • Intermediary and central point of contact for branch officers

  • Communicate potential issues to the officer, and provide feedback on how to restructure transactions to ensure investor and/or internal compliance

  • Assist underwriters and/or officers in obtaining, reviewing, and understanding all loan documentation

  • Prepare and review basic, moderate, and complex disclosures

  • Perform pre-close review of file documentation and loan closing documents for basic, moderate, and complex loan products

  • Train/mentor new or junior members within the department or branches

  • Perform other duties and projects as assigned

  • Understand and comply with all provisions of the Safety in the Workplace policy

Salary commensurate with experience.


Minimum Qualifications of Position

  • Minimum of 2 years of FirstBank loan experience or 3 years of outside loan experience

Preferred Qualifications of Position

  • Ability to effectively manage a full workload with little assistance

Knowledge and Skills

  • Considered a Subject Matter Expert

  • In-depth knowledge of required items and lending products

  • Advanced knowledge of ordering and follow-up items

  • Proficiency in loan policy and investor guidelines

  • Advanced knowledge of required loan file documentation and closing documents

  • Competency in all federal and state regulations related to lending

  • Working knowledge of Microsoft products and loan systems

  • Strong written and verbal communication, decision-making and problem solving skills

  • Detail-oriented and strong organization skills

  • Effective time-management skills

Working Conditions and Physical Requirements

Work is performed in an office environment with moderate noise levels and light to heavy traffic. An individual in this position:

  • Frequently remains stationary throughout a typical business day

  • Frequently operates a computer and other office machinery, such as a calculator, copy machine, and computer printer

  • Occasionally moves about inside the office to access file cabinets, office machinery, and other rooms

  • Occasionally positions self to access drawers and shelves of various heights

  • Frequently reaches for and handles paperwork and files

  • Constantly communicates with coworkers and management in-person and on the phone

Must be able to exchange accurate information
